VR Starting Grant for the Kohler Mito Lab!
I’m incredibly thankful to have received a VR Starting Grant to support our research on mitochondrial protein quality control. This is a big step forward for our lab, and I’m excited about what lies ahead. Many thanks to the Swedish Research Council for the generous support of our research!
But I also want to share something that often stays behind the scenes. Over the past year, there were many rejections and many moments of doubt. Starting out felt like pushing a boulder uphill—especially when trying to establish a new lab, secure funding, and build momentum. It’s easy to feel discouraged when things don’t go as planned, and it’s tempting to compare your journey to others who seem to be moving faster. But rejections don’t define the worth of your ideas. They’re part of the process. And sometimes, they’re exactly what helps you refine your vision and grow stronger.
